Ligue des Bibliothèques Européennes de Recherche is the main network for research libraries in Europe. LIBER was founded in 1971 as an Association under the auspices of the Council of Europe. LIBER aims to serve academic libraries in Europe, their universities and researchers by: providing an information infrastructure that enables research in LIBER institutions to be world class; ensuring that the experience of users in LIBER institutions is enriched by the facilities and services offered by LIBER; promoting and advocating for European libraries in all European and national fora where the voice of LIBER needs to be heard; and developing library and information professionals who are innovative and offer leadership to the library community.
